Brightsiding Moodboards for Mindset Shifts

And two very exciting announcements

Meet yourself where you are, wherever you are.

YOU GUYS! HUGE NEWS!

1) I’m SO EXCITED to share that I’ll be going to Tokyo this January to participate in my dream writer’s retreat.

2) To support this endeavor, I’m launching a new Brightsiding service that has me absolutely buzzing: Brightsiding Moodboards. Think of them like a Tarot card readings, but Bogsified. I’ll let the rest of this newsletter elaborate.

EEE!

Some people read tarot, others are gifted astrologers, but my gift is moodboarding

Since I was 10, I’ve been obsessed with ripping up magazines and creating elaborate worlds on bulletin boards and beyond. You should see my apartment - the whole thing is a mood board at this point. Every surface is it’s own small universe - the back of my front door, the refrigerator, even the coffee table.

Some of my moodboards over the years (and yes, Justin Bieber)

Recently, I’ve extended this hobby to my digital world and developed a lovely ritual for myself. I begin each month with a moodboarding session. I light a candle, sit down, and lose myself for a few hours, reflecting on what I’m calling in and the type of energy I want to embody. I play around with a color story, a message, and various symbols to create a moodboard for my digital backgrounds.

It’s been a powerful tool for staying connected to my values and vision … so much research done over the past few years to demonstrate the science behind this.

Mental imagery activates the same neural pathways as actual experiences. This “functional equivalence” helps the brain process visualized goals as if they are real, priming it for action.*

My love of beauty combined with my passion for world-building and scrappy interest in symbology has taken this hobby to an obsession of sorts. In October, I started to wonder if there was a way I could extend this passion beyond my own inner world, and use it as a way to connect more deeply with my friends and community.

Besides, I believe that one of my unique gifts in this life is my ability to see people for their true selves. I’m extremely perceptive and intuitive, and to tell you the truth I’ve always been a bit jealous of tarot readers + astrologers who had such clear mirrors to hold up to others and help them feel seen. I wanted to do that, too.

So this fall, as I started to experimenting with moodboards for my close friends to show them how I see them; I realized that my mirror is moodboarding. I loved this practice; I’d accompany the delivery of each board with a long voice note explaining the intention behind the imagery and the general theme / message embedded.

Some recent digital moodboards

It was rewarding + connective in a way I couldn’t have imagined. My friends would tear up because they felt so seen; and I was like, holy shit, is this what it feels like to give a spiritual reading??

I’m no guru, but I am deeply attuned to the world around me and the people I meet. Each moodboard I create is laden with easter eggs and reminders both overt and subliminal that serve as visual reminders of what you’re about.

After taking this even one step further and creating some boards for Alice a few weeks ago, I thought okay. That’s it. I have to make this an actual Brightsiding service. Which is why, today, I’m SO excited to announce a brand new Brightsiding offering: Moodboards for Mindset Shifts

Now more than ever it’s so easy to get lost in the matrix of messaging we receive in hyperspeed. My digital moodboards are anchors to keep you secure in your message so that every time you look at your phone or computer background, one glance brings you back to reality.

My reality has shifted completely this year; I made the choice to bet on myself and pursue a life of my own creation. Leaving my corporate job has been the biggest, scariest leap of my lifetime; and it’s afforded me the chance to play, experiment, and follow my passions. What a gift!

This has led me to an incredible opportunity that I’m sooooo excited to share: in January, I’ll be embarking on a month-long writer’s retreat in Tokyo, Japan to continue to hone my craft and take the next steps to turn my love of writing into a viable career.

I’m offering these digital mood boards as a new Brightsiding service to raise money to support this big adventure.

Here’s how it works:

  • Fill out this form and give me a little more background on where you’re at and what you’re calling in right now (+ a few other fun details like a symbol that resonates and a favorite color)

  • I’ll create a custom digital mood board for you in two formats (phone + desktop) and include a personalized write-up of the imagery, intention, and theme (think of it like a personal Brightsiding pep talk <3)

  • No two moodboards will be the same. In fact, I never use the same image twice.

This is also available for brands. If you or someone you know has a brand looking for fresh newsletter / social content, copywriting, etc., this is an incredible way to help your audience feel seen, energized, and connected to what you’re putting out into the world. Example of what I created for Alice here.

*A study by Guillot, A., & Collet, C. (2008): in “Neuropsychologia” reinforces this, showing that imagery activates neural substrates involved in the motor preparation process, supporting the idea that the brain processes visualized experiences similarly to real ones.

Jean Decety & Marc Jeannerod (1996): Their work in the book “The Handbook of Perception and Action” delves into how mental simulations of actions activate similar brain regions as actual physical actions, particularly in the premotor cortex and parietal areas. This principle has been widely applied in sports psychology and goal-setting research.

Last night my friend Alex and I went to an event and met the incredible Hazy May. I’m OBSESSED with her work and dying to get my hands on this Daydreamer Wish Jar.
