ON REPEAT:
I'm on Fire by Bruce Springsteen
10 DAYS IN to 2020
Congratulations on surviving the first 10 days of the new year my friends, and cheers to the end of the workweek.
I was really happy to get some routine and purpose back in my life after vacation mode... it was a slow week with my clients still waking up, but I used the downtime well and feel like I'm ending the week on a good note. One of my biggest 2020 goals is to transition out of my current sales role into something in the product & research world, so I used a lot of this week researching internal resources and putting some time in a 20% project that I’m pursuing. Ready for a cocktail and a relaxing Friday night!
How’s your mind today? I’m just happy it’s Friday. Zach is at home visiting his family so I have a rare, quiet, NYC weekend ahead of me. I’m looking forward to time with my girlfriends, binging season 2 of Succession, doing all the yoga, and maybe even getting to a farmers market. If anyone wants to grab a yoga class hit me up! <3
Personal Finance: YOU GUYS, I talked to a financial advisor this week! You think this might make me feel really on top of my shit, but don’t be fooled. I’m starting from scratch. We walked through everything during our first session: current checking/savings balances, credit card debt, interest rates on said credit card debt, what is actually happening with my 401k, stock options, etc.
Not gonna lie, when the time came for the actual appointment I was like fuck, this is the last thing I want to do. I was really intimidated to share what I felt was a VERY embarrassing state of affairs with a total stranger. But it was a really positive experience! I walked away feeling educated on my current financial situation, not ashamed. I scheduled another meeting for later this month dive into savings goals, strategies, etc. Stay tuned!
Some great resources I’ve found along my financial journey so far:
You Need a Budget - I haven’t personally used this, but heard great things about it (funny enough Cup of Jo published a post with them today! Worth the read.)
Mint - I want to be better about checking this app and tracking where every dollar goes. Since I have multiple bank accounts and cards it’s helpful to see everything in one place.
Do you have any resources you love for keeping yourself in check?
This weeks highs & lows:
High: Sam giving The Brightside a major makeover! I am soooo obsessed with how it came out and excited to keep playing around. I hope you love it as much as we do :)
Low: Finding out I have two cavities ... womp womp. Can't wait to get those filled! NOT!
how was your week? tell me all about it :)
all my love and more,
