ON REPEAT:

WELCOME TO THE BRIGHTSIDE

Hello sweet things, happy Friday! Another week ... working from home ... done! I'm so looking forward to wrapping up my workday with a mini-bottle of prossecco, in a lawn chair, reading a book. I thought it might be hard to separate work & life without going to the office, but by the time Friday comes around I'm still as excited as ever for the two days of relaxation.

I hope you made it through the week in one piece and you're able to take some deep breaths this weekend. Sending out lots of love to everyone virtually today, I can't wait to hug you in person soon.

How's Your Mind Today?

I'm good, all things considered. Zach and I just feel so lucky to be down here in Florida spending time with his family. As things escalate all over the place, my heart goes out to anyone impacted by this virus, physically, financially, or otherwise. I really do believe that this experience will bring us out on the otherside stronger, kinder, and more together than ever - and it's important to stay as connected as we can right now, even though it can't be in person.

If you're a healthcare worker, thank you SO much for all of the work you're doing right now. You're my hero.

What I Finished & Started Recently

Changing gears... I've had a lot of time to read recently! Which has been a big silver lining for me. Here's what I've been diving into!

Garlic & Sapphires
Last weekend I finished Ruth Reichl's memoir about her tenure as the NYT Food Critic. I loved the way she captured New York, culture, friendship ... and most importantly, her reflection on how she changed as a person (for better and for worse) during her time in that role. She was so open and honest, but somehow the book still felt light. I loved it and would highly recommend. (I'd read her most recent release, Save Me the Plums back in December, and I LOVED it as well. Anything by her is amazing!)

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone
I've been wanting to read this book forever and I finally started it this week. It's about a therapist and her relationship with her patients and her own therapist. As someone who's been going to therapy for a while now, it's hilarious, real, and enlightening. Excited to spend more time on this one this weekend.

Daisy Jones & The Six
This is told as an oral history of a fictional rock band. When I read that description I was like, huh? But when I started reading, I was so convinced it was a true story that I had to do a lot of Googling to convince me otherwise. It's such an interesting book format, and the characters are so complex/alive, it's hard to believe it's fiction. Hoping to finish the book in the next few days!

Are you reading anything good right now? Any recommendations, send them my way.

Highs:

One of the highlights of my week was talking to my amazing friend Anna-Christina on the phone. We hadn't caught up in a while, and hearing her voice/catching up made me so happy.

Also, running. I went on a few runs this week - they were ROUGH, but that's ok. It felt good to move my body in a way it hasn't been moved in a while; I think these next few weeks/months will be a good chance for me to rekindle the running flame.

Lows:

I'm having a hard time feeling connected to my yoga practice right now. Virtual yoga is not the same as in-person, and while I'm trying my best to stick with my practice and stream virtual classes, not "clicking" with something that is usually so grounding has been really ... hard. So I'm trying to find a routine that works for me. Anything working for you?

Operation First Impression

I'm excited to end on this note! I just ordered like, a million greeting cards from Lucky Horse Press and I'm so excited to start writing letters. If you want to be pen pals, email me with your mailing address and I'll send you a note with the story of when we met. (I did this recently with a few of my friends and it was so fun!)

I'm holding myself back from splurging on a personalized travel case from Stoney Clover Lane with everything I have. They're so over the top, in the best way possible.

happy brightsiding,

Always here for an email pen-palship, even if (especially if!) we haven't caught up in a while. <3
